Roadside Picnic

Roadside Picnic by Arkady & Boris Strugatsky
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book 60/100 Pages: 209

A unique Russian Sci-Fi story approaching alien contact as more of a “roadside picnic” than the occasional they want to suck out our brains and take over the planet. .
.
The book covers a stalker named Red. Stalkers are people who visit “The Zone” which are six different locations aliens visited years ago and essentially left their crap when they left. The Zone is extremely dangerous but you can get a pretty penny for these alien objects which are sold for high sums of money. We follow Red as he journeys into the Zone on his last mission before calling it quits. .
.
The story is extremely unique on the subject of alien visitation. A movie was made based loosely off the book directed by Andrei Tarkovsky titled “Stalker”. A great movie and story, good introduction to Russian writing.
